Science Behind: Snow

Are you ready for the massive storm we are about to experience? Well, if you’re wondering about snow, this is the article for you!

Snow doesn’t necessarily rely on the temperature we feel on the ground, but on the atmospheric temperature we experience. Snow forms when the atmospheric temperature, specifically, is below freezing (0 degrees celsius). If the ground temperature is also that cold, snow will fall. If it is not, however, they can melt on their way down.

Snow is essentially the accumulation of ice crystals in clouds, and needs moisture to even begin forming.

Have fun!
