Science Behind: Wind

Have you ever wondered how wind works?

Wind is essentially the product of a convection current, and the uneven heating of the surface of Earth by the sun. During the day, the air heats up above ground, while, above sea, the air is cooler. Since hot air rises, the cooler air above the water moves to take its place. This circular motion repeats, causing the wind you often feel a lot of the beach or near water.

This occurs every day, as the air heats up it rises, cools, and comes back down, creating a convection current and creating wind.

Next time you feel the wind, think of convection!
