Science Behind: Dehumidifiers

When it gets warm out, dehumidifiers are a great tool that can be used to make a room more comfortable. There are two commonly used types of dehumidifiers.

First, there are desiccant dehumidifiers which use an absorbent, such as silica gel (what’s in the packets you get sometimes in packaging), that absorbs the water in the air that is drawn in the dehumidifier and releases the air out.

Then, there are compressor dehumidifiers that draw the air in and cool it - condensing the water and the dried air released back into the room.

That’s how they work!
